Role Context
As a Cost Controller within the Project Services Department, you are supporting several project managers with monitoring of project budget including Owner’s cost, commitments, expenditures, forecast, change management, contingency and escalation.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the development, management, and control of project budgets for large-scale projects, including construction, expansions, and equipment upgrades.
- Monitor and track expenditures, provide detailed cost forecasts, and analyze trends to identify potential overruns, recommending corrective actions to stay within budget.
- Prepare regular cost control reports covering current and forecasted expenditures, project risks, and financial progress, ensuring alignment with project scope and timelines.
- Coordinate with project teams, procurement, and contract management to capture accurate cost data and ensure contractor/supplier agreements meet budget requirements.
- Develop and implement cost control procedures, conduct variance analysis, and manage change processes to maintain budget accuracy and control.
- Participate in project reviews (internal and external), providing financial insights (FCS, PCS), risk management input, and supporting financial close-out reports to ensure accurate reporting and forecasting.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Extensive experience in project cost control within the environment such as Oil and Gas, refining, or energy.
- Extensive experience in cost estimation, forecasting, and budget management for large capital projects.
- Strong knowledge of cost control software and tools such as Oracle, SAP, EcoSys, or other project management systems.
- Good Knowledge of WWOW
- Experience working with cross-functional teams including engineering, procurement, construction, and finance.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with EPC/EPCM (Engineering, Procurement, Construction/Management) projects
- Prior experience managing cost control for projects in brownfield or greenfield.
