Position Overview:

As a Data Engineer & Tech Lead in the Workforce Demand Planning (WDP) team at PostNord, you will play a critical role in optimizing our logistics and production processes, directly impacting our efficiency and service delivery. This role involves building and maintaining data pipelines in Microsoft Azure and Databricks, optimizing complex data structures, and supporting the team's efforts to deliver business-critical analytics.

To excel in this role, you should have extensive experience in advanced software development, enjoy remaining hands-on, and relish working on complex and challenging solutions. You should be familiar with the implementation of machine learning models and interested in the underlying mathematics, data science, and programming skills needed to develop and deploy forecasting models. Our technology stack focuses on Azure, including Azure Auto ML, Azure ML Ops, Azure DevOps CI/CD, Power BI, and more.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to establish the future data landscape.
  • Play a crucial role in planning staffing needs through custom-built algorithms.
  • Build and maintain data pipelines in a data warehouse for workforce demand planning.
  • Work closely with data analysts, business analysts, and data scientists to enable new insights.
  • Develop and optimize complex data pipelines in Microsoft Azure and Databricks.
  • Ensure data security across end-to-end solutions and stay current with evolving tools and technologies.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years' experience in a data-heavy domain, including data warehousing, data engineering, or similar projects.
  • University degree in IT area or equivalent knowledge, Information Technology, or Computer Science. Certification in IT-/Information-/Business Architect education is desirable.
  • Solid experience in CI/CD work with Git, Bitbucket pipelines, and deployment/release processes.
  • Clear understanding of core cloud concepts, with experience in building and optimizing data pipelines and data lakes/warehouses - in a cloud environment (preferably Azure).
  • Hands-on experience in Microsoft Azure, including designing, building, testing, and maintaining cloud applications and services.
  • Hands-on experience working with Azure Data bricks, Azure Functions
  • Experience in coding in Python, Apache Spark, Pandas
  • Strong understanding of core concepts such as Azure data storage, compute, data connections, APIs, and cloud security.
  • Experience in Agile project methodology and practice.
  • Effective communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
  • Proven experience in developing reports and dashboards.

Other Qualifications:

  • Ability to perform hands-on coding, mentor team members, and lead development processes.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, team members, architects, and line managers to define competencies, processes, models, and technology needed for business requirements.
  • Backend work will be the main focus, but experience in working with visual reports, apps, dashboards in a BI tech stack, preferably Power BI, is a plus.
  • Excellent analytical thinking for translating data into informative visuals and reports.
  • Familiarity with implementation of machine learning models and interest in the underlying mathematics.
  • Curiosity to learn and evolve skill set in accordance with the latest industry trends.
  • Previous experience in software development on an advanced level.
  • Prior experience with linear programming is a plus.
  • Knowledge and experience with Docker and Kubernetes are beneficial.
  • Understanding and experience in real-time data handling is advantageous.
